if you had a bad axle bearing in the rear, would it cause a vibration at certain speeds (mostly noticeable in the xfer case shifter) whether or not the clutch is engaged?
i have a really bad vibration between 45-50mph...then something at 70-75mph..when Zuk was on lift with tires spinning, it looked as if the left rear tire was wobbling up and down slightly, slight play noticed upon shaking the motionless wheel by hand...any thoughts???

check you drive shaft between the t case and the tranny. the bearing going out really wouldn't cause a bad vib just noise. check u jointa and tires first and save your self alot of headaches. use a screw driver to pry the u joints around, i have had them feel good at first till i could really try to pry them around. mike

what direction was your play in, in-out, up-down, all over, etc...... could be bent tcase arms, i have the same problem. jack it up and remove the wheels, put it in 3rd gear and start listening. a long screwdriver makes a cheap stethoscope. put the handle to your ear and the point wherever you you want to hear whats going on inside. do this with extreme caution, no loose clothing, hair tied up, etc.... if that doesnt help try removing driveshafts one by one and then repeating the process.

thres only one bearing per side. no its not like the front. pull the drums, unbolt backing plate and pull the axle. what youll see is the axle flange, backing plate, bearing, collar, and seal, not necessarily in that order but you get the idea. theres also some kinda plastic cup thing thats inside the tube. i think its to keep oil from flooding to the outer axle seals.
