This past weekend I rented a pitman puller from Autozone using their buy it,use it, bring it back rental plan. It got broken as predicted but when I brought it back there was no problem and they gave me my money back. Just thought I would pass it along. Jim

That is good to know. I busted three Snap-on pitman arm pullers on a Sami pitman arm once. It finally succumed to a cut-off wheel.....

Use the smaller puller from AZ and once you tighten up the Puller smack the pitman arm with a hammer. (Out away from the puller. the one we broke is the larger one, The arm popped off once I tightened the smaller puller I bought and smacked it.
I will be testing this approce on my spare box maybe tonight.

I learned from my Dad that a week or 2 before you plan on doing these kinda jobs to started spraying penetrating oil on everything. I did this 2 weeks before we did these springs and all the u-bolts were saved and the pitman DID come off. The springs were never taken off before. The story of the 3 broken pullers isn't the first one I have heard. Jim
