I have a chevy TH350 auto tranny that I am planning on putting in my CJ. My
question is how do I even begin to tell if the unit is in good enough shape?
I pulled the pan on it and there was some fluid in it so I guess thats good.
Is there anything I can look for or do I have to take it to a transmission
specialist or something. I really don't want to go for a rebuild at this time.
Does anyone know what it should cost to get one of these trannys rebuilt?

5 bills sounds about right if you are dropping off the trans and picking it up. But ask before you drop it off if they still honor a waranty if they don't install it. That is sometimes in the fine print that they forget to tell you about until after you pay.
