I am looking to buy a four wheeler I have never owned one and only ridden twice. I want to spend about $1500 and it must run decently I would prefer a 4X4 but will consider anything I just want to tool around my backyard.
What should I look for? What should I stay away from? Does anyone have anything for sale in New Hampshire

It would probally be hard to find a good used 4x4 for $1500. You may could look for a Honda 300 2x4. They are the most reliable fourwheelers made. You could easily find a Yamaha timberwolf for that price since they are less than $3000 brand new, but they don't have the performance or reliability of a Honda 300. Honda also made a 250 that is about the same as a 300 that would be a good buy. The Honda 250 and 300 are shaft driven, a big plus in my book. I had a Honda 200sx, they are real reliable if you keep them out of the mud. They were chain driven, mud eats up chains and sprockets and bearings. If you plan to be riding it hard I would stay away from anything but a Honda. Suzukis are pretty reliable, but if they tear up parts are harder to come by and they are harder to work on. Polaris fourwheelers are the easiest to ride with their automatic "transmissions" but they are the least reliable brand out there. Tell me alittle more about what you will be using it far and maybe I can help you more. You can get a 2wd put some good tires on it and it will go alot of places. My brother has a Honda 300 2wd with 25 inch super swamper tires and he can go just about anywhere my 300 4x4 will go. Plus his steering is easier to turn with 2wd.
