Who exactly sucks?
Boy Red26,
You're appear to be a very angry person. You should take a chill pill and be still. It's okay to vent, but let me say a few things in response.
The ASA is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization. It is the oldest, national Suzuki club and has gone thru many changes. But remember is is volunteer-based. That means there is no "office", no full time staff, nada.
Yes, the ASA has been performing poorly for the last couple of years. Currently, none of the vendors offer discounts that I'm aware of. The website doesn't say this as the person who was maintainin the site is no more. The newsletter has been spotty, but I always get one een if it's late. Again, the ASA doesn't have roving reporters. They rely on the membership, like you, for stories and write-ups. If no one had anything to say, then expect a blank newsletter
But that is changing as I type. The framework has been laid to re-create the ASA into a truly functional organization. New leadership, new regional reps, new webmasters for the site. But it still needs help, from people like you. The problem is apathy. You only get out what you put in. And people don't seem to want to put in anymore than dues (and many don't do that).
Being involved in Boy Scouts for many years, I saw apathy is it's finest. Parents who never lead a hike, never go on a campout, never attend a meeting. But oy, do they like to b!tch about what's wrong. A know of one Mom who complained that the tents were worn out and the Scouts should buy new ones, but she was always late paying dues and griped about the cost.
Being from New England, I felt left out by the ASA. Yeah, I could have just b!tched and moaned about how nothing ever happened out my way, but I chose to get involved and make tings happen. I'm glad I did.
My suggestion? I see you live in Texas. Contact Bill Johnson. He's the Texas Rep. His email is
graphics@asakatana.org. His webpage is
http://home.elp.rr.com/zook. Contact him. Air your disappointment, then ask how you can help out in your region. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.
