Ok, finialy got to take my cj2 out and play today. I learned 2 things.
1, I'm going to have to get a lot better to keep up with my 25 year old son in the Samurai. And 2, my cj2 stock articulates slightly better than a bulldozer!
I know I need new shocks mine only have about 4-6 inches travel. Does anyone
have any good numbers for replacement shocks with more travel that will fit?
Also, what would be the easiest way to add some articulation? I don't want to
mess with the stock setup any more than I have to and don't need an articulation
monster. I just don't want to lift a wheel every time I run over a speed bump.
Any and all help would be really appreciated. Getting passed up by my son all
the time is REALLY embarrassing.

Hi, not sure how a cj2 looks underneath. but it should FLEX (stock) much better than a suk. just the wheel base alone make it an awesome trail rig!
All i can say is, if it has any sway bars, disconnect it and that will give you a lot of articulation and make sure your shackles aren't to tight.

I have a '46 that flexes about the same. There is not a lot of up travel on the stock springs. One thing I did that helped a lot was to take the spring packs apart and sand all the rust off. Then you loosen the clamps on the springs and make sure the shakles are well greased.

I traded my stock Wrangler springs for a set of 2" lift springs off a Ford flattie that I plan on installing before summer. The Ford would ramp 800 on a 20 deg ramp with these so I'm interested on how they'll do on my Willys. :)

The Sami has an SPOA setup and I think most of my CJ problem are the shocks.
Think I'm going to check out shocks tomorrow and check into something like
the Hyper-shackle or Revolver. Any one using them? Do you need to change
anything?

3/4 eliptical is all I have to say. Cheap, Very easy to do, find the spare parts anywhere and make the rest. And massive amounts of articulation from very little to no lift if done right. This is what you want in the rear, combined with getting rid of anything that looks like a swaybar and the other suggestion about the springs and shocks and youll be all set.

Last I knew, they weren't making Revolvers for the stock CJ2 springs...yet, and CJ-2's don't use a sway bar, so removing that is not an option.
I converted my CJ-2a to YJ springs. Best suspension mod I've done to date. The YJ springs are longer and softer so they provide a much better ride with a big increase in atriculation. You will need to change the shackle and spring mounts to CJ-7 components, and use YJ shackles (now you will be able to get the revolvers), and reinforceing the frame is a good idea (boxing), but it's not a difficult mod at all. For longer shocks, I removed the stock shock mount from the frame and used a 6" section of 2"x3"x.125" steel notched to slip over the frame with a shock mounting stud welded to the other end. I welded this to the frame and now I'm using Rancho 5010 shocks which have 11" of travel. To use these mounts, you'll need to cut a 1" dia. hole in your fender for the shock mounting stud to pass thru.

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like the YJ springs and maybe the 3/4 rear
may just be what I'm looking for. I like the idea of stronger springs up
front. I'm going to be going V6 in the near future, if I ever get it.
