I have had nothing but trouble from my friends odyssey fl250 which he gave me (it was in rought shape)
and I sort fo restored. Is there any reliable (i mean like 4 stroke reliable) odys out there? Or maybe
somthing like an ody that is reliable (cheap would be good to) Are the 350's better than the 250's?
Has any one had any big (pistons new engines) problems with them?

Yeah some are...but not many! I have an 84 fl250 and it is a peice of ----. I have to work on it say 10 hours a month to keep it running...and there snorkel...HA! Peice of junk I cant go thru more than 1 foot of water anymore with out bogging down....I even have electric start on it because I was so ---- tired of pulling the starter...I have put in a new carb, new piston, rings, rod, crank, head, and about 100 spark plugs in the last 2 years...SERIOUSLY. It is running good now but I need a new battery...im tired of charging it every three days...that is the only reason I bought a battery charger...I did have a custom bumper made for it though! It is a winch bumper but I do not have a winch for it...I mainly ride my 200x atc. Totally moded.

There is no other odyssey type thing....the pilot 400 if you have that much money...I DONT! The 350 is okay but if you run it for more than 5 minutes at full throttle you will melt the piston...unless you buy a stinking watercooled head...MORE MONEY I AIN'T GOT.

Ya the 350's are better. My 79 FL250 is very reliable I run premium gas and Golden Spectro. 20:1 mixture. I have sucked in water and the Odyssey kept running and still runs.

I have a 350 and it run's great. It's never been rebuilt and i only run regular and snowmobile oil. this is the lucky one I guess. The main thing I blow all the time is the rear axles. Honda only sells the whole piece but I got a line on some napa u-joints that sound like they might be ok. #1500 if you need em'

My old Odyssey was the most reliable ATV I ever owned. The only other one that came close was my 84 ATC250R. The Ody was a 1979 (I think) FL250. The only problem I ever had was the pull-start assembly would break off. I eventualy got sick of replacing them, so I took a look and noticed they torque a lot when you pull them. I fabricated a brace if you will to hold it in place. Worked great till the day I sold it. I even mounted a much larger carb (CR500) on the beast and still it ran with no complaints. I wish I still had it.
