Hey Guys,

Anyone running UN-Cut Scout 44's in a CJ? If so, do you have any pics? How much further does it stick ok? Are flares needed??

Thanks

The front clip wasn't installed when I took the pic, but you get the idea. I am running lawn edging from the hardware store as flares, it cost me $12 and looks similar to normal flares. When they get torn or ripped off I don't have to cry.

I'm running the Scout 44s on my 79 CJ7 too. I have the Xenon flares on mine and they fit pretty good. I belive the flares are 5" wide and the axles use it all!

I am curious about this too. I have (maybe) access to wagoneer D44's. Would they stick out about the same? Anybody?

I'm still in the process of swapping a set of uncut Dana 44s under my '76 CJ-7. The axles are originally from an International Pickup truck, so even a little wider than what a Scout would be. If you want, you can check out some pictures here: http://www.users.uswest.net/~ascanlon I know there aren't really any with a good front-end view, but maybe you can piece together what it would look like. When the hood is down, the tires run almost perfectly along the outside (none of the tire fits under the wheel-wells) of the original fender, so flares will be a necessity to make it legal.

I have the 5" Xenon flares and I was wondering how far out the lawb edging stuck out from the jeep. My biggesty question was how hard is it to put the axle in the front of the jeep in regards to the jeep steering. Does a person have to fab up some custom steering to make it work, or does it pretty much work with the stock jeep steering parts?

I left the drag link alone, but had to fab a new tie rod. I left the jeep end alone near the pitman arm and left the Scout end alone at the axle. I used a new (well, cut, so it wasn't new) rod to tie them together. I am looking to move the steering setup over the axle as it gets hit a lot with the wheeling I do (mud, hidden rocks, extreme stuff, Hey guys, watch this!) /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

The lawn edging is 4" I think, easy to screw onto the fenderwells (love those self drilling screws) and they just cover the tires. Swampers might be a little over, but it's close.

The tires in the previous picture, BTW, are 31x11.5x15 Riken Raiders (they're my street tires) on 8" rims, so they're pretty wide, but so are the Swampers.

Hey Kevin,

If you want you can have a look at mine. Next weekend I plan on doing the front swap and should also have my tires.

F&R 58" dana 44's, SOA and 35x14.5 boggers, I have a 5" xenon flares to try and cover all that.
