I searched high and low through the posts looking for this question but was unsucessful in finding it. I need to know if anyone has tried or know anyone who has tried to transplant a pre 88 tach into a post 88.5 cluster. My temp and fuel gauges died in my 88.5 and I replaced them with aftermarket ones that I installed above the air vents in the middle of my dash so the temp and fuel gauges just sit dead in my dash. Can you put a pre 88.5 tach into that cluster and just wire it directly to the sending unit.

Im not sure but I think you can swap the two with a little wiring. A buddy of mine did something like that a few years ago, he may have swaped the hole dash,..I forget.
