I bought an '85 CJ7 and it has a three-inch body lift and 33-inch tires. I know that much body lift is bad and this one wasn't even done right I don't think. I want to change from 33 to 31 inch tires and let it down. Will I need any lift for the 31 inch tires? Also, it has 10 inch wheels. Will the 31X11.50 tires go on 10 inch wheels OK?
Thanks

You are wise in dumping the body lift....as for the tires, unless they are worn out, it would actually be about the same price to do a lift. 31" Tires will fit just fine under stock height....and they will fit on the 10" rims...though, with rock crawling you actually want the wheel to be inside of the sidewall...otherwise, those rocks do a number on your pretty rims.

Also, you are taking a bigger chance of losing the bead when aired down with those wide rims.

If you do dump the body lift, you don't have to dump the tires too, if you purchase an appropriate lift. With 33s, a 4 inch suspension lift would look sweet and your jeep would probably handle better than having a huge body lift. I have a 2 inch body with a 2.5 inch lift and 32s. It handles great but with the body lift, there is a bit more sway in my jeeps step.
Just my two cents.
