I am going to purchase a press so I can do my own wheel bearings. Does anyone know what lenths the after market MOSER one piece axles are? The press I'm looking at has a 35" travel. Thanks.... please send the reply to my e-mail [email protected]

Thanks, but what about taking the old ones off? Don't you need a press that will be long enough to grap the end of the shaft? :))

You don't need one nearly that long. I have a press that has 12" of travel and I just did my own Mosers last week. All you need is to be able to press the axle onto the bearings not the other way. I put the bearings on the press plate slid the axle into them and then pressed the axle into the bearings. Obviously, the axle was sticking out below the press but that was how I was able to do it. I got my press at Harbor Freight Tools for $70.

Good Luck,

/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif Tom is right.....you need only a few inches of actual "press". The rest is clearance below the press, and even at that you can always put the press up on blocks,....OR....you can lay the press down. Yes....that's right....you can lay it down./wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif Hydraulic jacks will usually work horizontal if the handle is on the bottom or on the low side./wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

I never believe any statistics unless my moonguys /wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif/wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif made 'em up themselves.
