I have to replace the rear main seal on my 304...As long as I have the oil pan off what else should I be checking down there?
Also...I have a '74 block and a '79 service manual. The service manual says its a two piece seal. Is this right for the '74 304's too?

The seal is the same for any 304-401. You should clean any crap out of the pick up tube screen. You cannot replace the tube with the engine in the Jeep because it will hit the frame.
