Re: Can I mount a York sideways?

/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif The answer to that is......maybe.. There is a tiny hole in the intake cavity of the York compressors which is supposed to drain refrigerant oil back to the crankcase. Obviously, if you laid the unit on THAT side, the lube oil would run out into the air cleaner. Vertical IS better....sideways is not impossible, but may be messier since the oil will be closer to the hole than it would be in a vertical position. Remember, it is possible to take off the alternator...mount the compressor where the alt was....and then hang the alt on the outside bolt pattern of the compressor, driving the alt from the second groove of the two-groove compressor pulley with a separate, dedicated belt./wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif
