Well it is about time!!! /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif It snowed about a foot over here at my hose today Josh, so the fairy dust is ready to meet some treds, but Hurc has no motor!!!! Ahhh!!!!! Next weekend it will have a new one ready to go. Two things I suggest and I wish I had phots to prove my point. Colorado is very hard on these stock bumpers, build a beefy one for the back, I ripped mine off on a trail by my house, the long rear end hates inclines, so beware, same goes for the exhaust. I will get a picture of my stock front bumper and the one I built, the stock one I kept because I have never seen such a twisted bumper, looks like you ran into 6 semis and a subaru. Looks like this: /\/\/\/\ /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif After one trail run I ran into a tree just so I could get the bumper back into better shape for the road. Just a thought, the rest of the rig looks awsome, Jack that puppy up and lets see the Mr. twisters! You are going to have some stiff competition when the willys is fired up and on the trails, I am building one mean rig. /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif Best of luck, let me know when you want to wheel. (That answer is always. I guess I should ask when you can wheel? /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif) Alright, back to the tape measure, cutting frames, building spring hangars, all sorts of fun stuff.

Thanks for the good words and suggestions, all (never fear all you nay sayers, there's more to come)...
Jim-don't worry, I'll cover that rust hole with my rocker guards, that way no one will ever know. I'm having 2 pieces of 1/4" steel bent to match the angle of the rocker. Full length. The body is my last priority, so if I can at least keep it as it is I no worse off than where I started.

John- I've been off for a while so I haven;t heard much about the latest addidtion to the corral. How long until the Flattie sees trail-duty? Thursday we're making a shakedown run to Lefthand Canyon, it's close, it's fun, and I can always be towed out if something goes bad. I can't wait, probably won't even sleep... I'll get some good action pics since my pal will bring his digital camera.
The spare carrier was from 4WheelParts (hissss), but since the people at the factory shrink-wrapped them before the powdercoating was cured they screwed up the finish I got it on the cheap (didn't matter to me, I Herculined it anyway!)

I had to go to shorter shocks in the front than I planned as a result of where the shocks had to be, but I can still get full extension out of the front and rear Twisters, and still have a few inches of compression in there. I need to make a rig to either lift a tire or the axle since jacking with the Hi-lift only makes the shackles flex...

That's about it, I'll get those wheelin pics up tomorrow night!

Have fun, the flattie will be up in a few months, what better way to test a new rig out than in the snow? At the house we have 5 Jeeps and a Saab, so there have been a few additions to the family...... Have a great time, I am checking on prices for gears right now, I was thinking 5.13's with a spool in the rear and a easy locker up front, but I might ditch that for a true track, we will see..... /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif It is so much fun building a Jeep with no limits, wild as I care for it to be, so it should be interesting....

Well Rrich was sorta on the right track...../wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif Actaully Hurc was my only big money pit, I put $500 aside and designated that for the willys project. 90% of the project is self funded, selling parts off the CJ-2A and 73 Commando to get parts for the buildup. I thought it was a cool idea, it makes the project more fun. I got a compete good running 225 V-6 for $50 the otherday, (example of a good deal for the willys) but it is going in Hurc while I rebuild Hurc's engine or replace whatever it may need. The paint job on the willys was pretty pricy, $4 invested!
