i'm still undecided about this race vs going to the WORCS race @ milford. on one hand i want to support any ATV XC events in the NW (and we need them), it isn't much track time, IMO.
when it comes down to it, i'll probly be in richland that day... much less expensive.

We were going to go to Milford also but because of cost will stay and race at Richland.

This was the only date the club could get from the Parks department as the others were all taken.

I just finished Sunday doing a race at the Horn Rapids ORV Park. I had a really great time. There was about a 50 quad turn out. The course was awesome, but it's not a course I would reccomned to anyone with stock suspension. Most all of the desert parts were wooped out. It wasn't like big woops either, it was the little tiny ones. So if you had good suspension, you could just grab a handfull of throttle and hold on. It was about a 10 mile course, so this one in May, I guess will be a different course. Also, there wasn't too much room to pass. But all together it was a pretty good race. The trophys were pretty cool, and everyone else got finisher pins.

how'd you do?

i got off to a bad start & then i had my throttle stick open about 2/3 way during my 1st lap, i stopped to fix it at the checkpoint & had a tough time getting going again... got passed by about 5-6 ppl right there. passed a few back finally. at 2 laps i was in 38th of 41. ended up finishing 18th of 21 finishers in the ironman class. they said 50 riders were on the start line. it did look rough for anyone on stock suspension...

now back to the GP-
the MX track will be open for quads to practice during this event too. usually quads only get to ride the MX track during races at this park. i'm sure they will have a different loop for the GP, but should be a blast to ride just the same...

I'm not sure exactly, but I think I got about 7'th or 8'th in the Ironman class. Which I think is pretty good, considering this was the first ride since we got the Z back together, and like the first 5 guys all usually ride pro. I lost almost a minute the first lap, because at the check I got confused when they weren't holding out that stop sign, and were waving me on. Later I found out, they were waving me on to tell me to go to the very last guy to have my thing punched. So I ended up going about 15 feet past the guy. Oh well.

the scoring system they use is low tech, but it is inexpensive & virtually idiotproof. i had some confusion the first time into the check too... but when i killed it it confused them too...
dang stuck throttle, i still gotta figure out why it happened.

the GP race there should be similar. i've ridden a number of the trails around there, a few are narrower & more whooped out(not much over 2 ft deep) i don't know what they plan to do exactly, but i hope each class starts seperately.
when they don't have some moisture in the ground it gets real dusty.

meanwhile, washougal has a mx race this weekend... not sure if i'll go yet.

Yeah, starting the classes seperate would be a very good idea. I went into the first corner mid-pack, so I kind just went blind. I had looked at that corner before the race started, so I kinda knew how tight I needed to take it and stuff. But I was more worried about the people around me then the corner. Quite a few close calls with other peoples tires.
