Here are the new chapter regional guidelines. They have been looked over by the people heading up the new chapters and they gave a thumbs up with them.

Now we need your in-put as well. Please read the guidelines and give us your opinion. Your response and thoughts are important. Thanks.

Gentleman:

Here is my proposal on chapter regions. They are based on "Jeepster owner population" across the United States. This proposal comes from studying past AJC membership lists of 12 years.

There needs to be four key chapters at this time.

Here are my suggestions.

Northwestern chapter will include…. WA, OR, ID, MT, and WY.

Southwestern chapter will include…. CA, NV, UT, and AZ.

Central chapter will include…. CO, NM, TX, NE, SD, ND, and all the other states west of the Mississippi River.

Eastern chapter will include all states east of the Mississippi. River. (Note) the eastern chapter will split into a North and South chapter in the near future…(two years may be).

The central chapter might have to be split as well, but all of the past membership lists show it might take a long time, if ever.

Please understand that my suggestions are just that, and your input is valuable and needed. There will never be concrete lines drawn as to who can join which chapter, it is up to the each member. These chapter regions serve as guidelines for chapters to follow, and help guide new members in the right direction.

Happy Trails, Jim

Re: AJC GUIDELINES

I see no problem with how it is divided up. But I do have a problem with the comment of no negative replies . We have the right to voice our opinions both postitively and negatively. I am not saying be hateful, but negative critisism can be both healthy and constructive.

I also have a comment that if we are going to start having to pay dues soon then I also want to see the By-laws for the club including the outlines for structure, internal organization, rules, financial reports, meeting schedules, meeting location rotation, and election of club officers - both regional and national. I would also like to see the information on the incorporation paperwork to be a "legal" club. In the two years that I have been an active participant in this BBS I have never seen any guidelines, other that Jim or Mike's comment on this is how we do it. This is fine for a small group of people. However; if in fact, as has been noted in some previous post's, we have a member ship of over 800 we need input from every member and equal votes on all matters concerning the club. Not just the comments we see here. I believe that if this figure is correct then we only see Web activity for less than 15% of the club (approximately 120 people). Which means we have to have consistant communication by a source other than this BBS. I remember several comments being made, about the time of transition from the old BBS software to the new, concerning the lack of newsletters or any communication for that matter. We need all information updated regularly to keep current. I have seen names come and go over the last two years that I do not believe still even own a Jeepster. I believe a large portion of the new people we see here will decide that a Jeepster is a bigger project than they wanted when they find out the lack of aftermarket body parts, lift kits, etc. and sell the Jeepster within the first year. So we really can't count those people. And someone who wanted to be a member twelve years ago may have sold their Jeepster and no longer be interested. I believe a mass mailing should be done to see how many of those 800+ members still own a Jeepster or are interested in being members of this club. I believe this is a necessary step before we proceed any further or else we need to wipe the slate clean and start with zero members. In either respect whether we have 50 or 5000 members everyone needs to be able to refer to the bylaws for the rules and regulations of this club. I see the regional chapters as a step in the right direction. The key to any successful venture is communication. I am not saying this to be negative. I was Vice-President of a Jeep club for two years in the past and am an active member of another four wheel drive club. I am only trying to offer some advice from some of the things I have learned.

Re: AJC GUIDELINES

Aw, come on Carey, lighten up.

Jim's just made a huge step in the right direction, let him keep it up. By-laws, rules, and articles will grow as needed. So far no money has been collected, so here's the financial statement you asked for:
+ 0
- 0
Total 0

They say Hiroshima wasn't built in a day, but it came down in less. Let's not nuke it before it starts.

I didn't see any comment about negative comments, was that a negative comment?

Re: AJC GUIDELINES

Gentleman, this will be negative so hold your ears and send small children out of the room. I keep hearing about the AJC. But the banner at the top of the page said off-road.com. I did not come here to join a elite club, that maybe have less than five vehicle in my town. I'm not going to drive hundreds of mile at $1.49 a gallon to join a club meeting. I came here for information, and I will help other commando or jeepster or even a suki, but I do not think I need to join a club. I'm here to wheel, not to show and shine like the corvette club. I agree with Mr Carey. I do not see any good of a club but to line Mr Jims pocket. I feel it is nothing but a racket. Why does everybody need Mr Jims permission to do anything and who elected him president and when is the next election. I fiqure when the old club went down so did all the rules and regulation and the board members. If we want to start a chapter, it should be like, South Pensacola Beach chapter, Fla state, East divison. If its over ten miles my wife will not let me go. The only way a national club can survive is to set up like the Hot Rod Associstion with all the lawyers and legals and magazine and sponsors and then the LOCAL chapter are in total control of their members. If I get drunk at a campout is Mr Jim going to fly down from up north and chew me out, take away my club key chain. I do not think it will fly.

summary: 1) off-road.com not AJC
2) information
3) common courtesy
4) background
5) it a racket
6) local
7) big time legal
8) basically not enough vehicle to support NATIONAL club organzation

O.K gentleman I spoke my peace, did not cuss or called anybody names, let keep it civilize. send all remarks to my email so the children will not get upset

Re: AJC GUIDELINES

Yo Brownbag,
We're a small club. Jeepsters are rare. That's what we're about. If you want a free club, stay here untill it costs you $10.00 per year then find something else.
No organization is perfect. The AJC is just getting started again with or without you. We would prefer that you would stay with us. the heck with the hot rod ass.
If you get drunk, that's your problem.

Re: AJC GUIDELINES

In the areas where there are enough Jeepsters to get together and have some fun it's a great idea.
How else would you get to know another Jeepster 20 miles away when your paths never cross?

Ever seen one driving along and you don't already know him? Were you in yours at the time?

Do you think maybe someone that has one saw yours, but he wasn't driving his at the time?

AJC and this board are a good way to get to know each other. Local chapters can be alot of fun. Those all in favor of NOT joining one --- well, OK, don't, no harm done.

Jim,
I personally see nothing wrong with what you guy's are purposing. I am pleased to see and hear that things are starting to mobilize. We live in a Big Country and are dealing with a many individuals so hopefully this is the first step of a long and successful journey for us all. Again, your efforts and the efforts of all the organizers are much appreciated. Keep up the good work.

I will be joining the Northwest Chapter.

Thanks,
Dennis

Re: AJC GUIDELINES

To Jim's defense, I must say that this club has done nothing but empty the pockets of Jim. Nearly everytime I'm at Jim's house the phone rings with some Jeepster owner asking a question of him and wasting an hour of his time. He returns people's phone calls, he does printing, and mailings. When was the last time dues were collected to pay for his phone bills, or the last two mailings for the Commando Raid or the BBQ? I don't see Jim getting rich off of this club, that's for sure. Who elected Jim? Well, I think the guy that founded the club 10 years ago and does a lot more than most people do for the Jeepster cause should be president.

In Summary:
1. This BBS, Classifieds and home page were either created by me, setup by me or maintained by me for the use of AJC. I am the only administrator of this BBS who can edit, delete, censor material, or ban members. I chose not to, but I administrator this site, not ORC. Why do people always forget that?
2. Information takes time to collect, gather, format, edit, and publish, let alone maintain. Why do people always think they are entitled to free anything?
3. We do this because we love Jeepsters and like other Jeepster owners, and want to keep them on the road, not to make a profit.
4. Background is that Jim's been at this for 10 years and I've had this site for nearly 5 years. Where's my money? If you count my ISP costs, I'm about $4,000 in hole by now, not including my time answering stupid emails.
5. See points #3 and #4. If this was a racket, won't we have people paying three years ago. People want mailings, but people don't want to pay. (what else is new?)
6. Everything we do is local. It is up to locals to hold local events. Are we stopping anyone? But a National event every year or two years is nothing to avoid, is it?
7. Yes. I don't want to get sue'd and lose my Jeepster.
8. You have to start somewhere. Before we started this club and site people didn't even know what a Jeepster was. Even the Mags didn't, let alone a parts store.
