And a side view. note how the tank's rear is cut at an angle for better departure.
I had a hell of a time cropping down pic's so that the system would allow there size. I may be doing somethin wrong. Hurc any tips you tend to have lots of pics up here. Is it just the shutter quality? Thanks

Tank with hardware and sender $217.60
Skidplate welded to bottom $55.20
plus tax and shipping
went in pretty easy, maybe 2-3 hours although I had to fab a connector from the 2 3/4" fill pipe to the 2 1/4" inlet to tank.

Just because I want a custom high clearance/ high capacity tank, I do not want an Aero tank. what are the opinions on one making his own tank, as in welding it? Steel will be the metal of chioce, most likley with a bag style tank liner filled with foam, a roll over valve, and two fuel pickups. Is this a good idea? I sort of have these thoughts some time, just wanted to cheack my sanity and thought process before I went ahead with the idea.

I had the springs made at National Spring in San Diego. They make a lot of the springs you see on race trucks in baja. You just tell them what you want. And the measurments, and the weight of the front, rear and total. Then they come UPS.

The trouble with homemade steel gas tanks is that they rust up on the inside. I made one once. Worked great for about 18 months. Then the fuel pump wouldn't pull gas out of it any more, so I dropped it and looked inside. The whole thing had rusted up inside, and the in-tank filter was clogged solid. You have to use "aluminized steel," whatever that is, or stainless steel or aluminum. I wouldn't know where to get that, or how to weld it. Maybe you could just paint the inside with some kind of gas tank liner, also. They make special stuff to fix antique cars with rusted tanks. But who knows?

Aero can custom-make anything you want, and theirs won't rust, but you're talking fairly heavy bucks.
