I am going to add on-board air to my '85 CJ7. I have found a suitable tank and have all the necessary fittings and connectors. I have not been able to find a York compressor. If you have done this, please post what type of vehicle your compressor came out of. The Jeeps around here have been picked over and there aren't many AMC vehicles at the local junkyards. I really want the York, so I am willing to take my time finding it. Also if anyone has a set of AC brackets for a 4.2L/258 that they want to sell please let me know.

You can buy them at any local parts store. Bg wheel rossi has them with clutch for around 140. I have one with a bad clutch but i think it is ok otherwise. If you want i'l send it to you. E-mail me for info if you want.

Finding the york shouldn't be hard. Look for wagoneers, some fords and volvos. The tough part is the brackets.
If you can find someone that has all the brackets and pulleys for a 258 let me know. I have searched yards and
can only find the sanden style compressors in those ugly AMC cars.

Try looking on Fords from the 80's. The problem with some of the Ford Yorks is the fittings, the AC lines point straight up when York is vertical and might have a clearence problem. I saw some mounted horizontal on full size Fords with 180 degree bend in one of the AC lines, 90 in the other. It looked like it would work pretty good. I am no expert, I got the parts off of a donor 258 with AC (had to go back for the larger crank pulley after reading about it on another post), but I haven't installed it yet. BTW, I can't figure out how belt from the crank to the AC is adjusted and owning a YJ, I don't have manuals that cover this setup. Can anybody clue me in?

I got mine from a 70's model F-250. It had the two pulleys that I needed and the hoses were bent over 90 degrees. I also helped repair a work study student that had a 70's era volvo 240. That compressor is tough to see, it mounts under the engine, but it looked like what is needed.
