Thanks in advance,

/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif I was wondering what DOM meant also. Being a farmkid I knew what PTO meant. I remember taking the little "door" off the five speed transmissions, and slapping on the PTO to power a feed box or a manure spreader on our old army trucks. After WWII the Jeeps always were shown in the farm magazine ads with the shaft sticking out the back. The hole in the rear crossmember was there for years. DOM was sort of one of those: "OH well....I'll find out later...it MUST be good though!"/wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif BTW Larry M....now that we are on this subject: what is a "Wet Kit"....also a winch term? /wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif

"DOM = Drawn-Over-Mandrel is a cold drawn electric resistance welded tube with all flash removed. Each tube is tested for soundness of weld. Preferred over seamless tubing for its excellent OD &ID concentricity. Normalizing and cold drawing over a mandrel makes DOM a uniform and precision product"

See also ASTM A513 (www.astm.org)

Above quoted from Ryerson stock list. Basically DOM used for roll cages allows use of a lighter (thinner wall) tube because the design does not have to account for as wide a variety of manufacturing tolerances.

Maybe more info than you needed, but then again can you ever know too much?

A "Wet Kit" is a hydraulic pump/resevoir added to a vehicle to give it hydraulics... to rum a dump/ram/or winch. Your power steering pump is essentially a small "wet kit" since it has the pump and resevoir all in one... that's essentially what Milemarker uses it for in their winches.

/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif Very good J2, here is an "A". Some wet kits have PTO and pump as one unit and hang on the tranny, some belt drive,,some shaft drive.
