O.K. all you low-ballers, I think I've got you all beat...

In my quest for LED lights to replace my hashed taillights, I came across this site that sells 8K# winches for $277.50. Go on, you can buy two and use them together (mounted side-by-side, or over-under, or??) and STILL spend less than Warn...

Hmmm, Raymart--sounds kinda like "K-Mart"...

P.S., anybody with the lowdown on some 6-7" flushmount LEDs please lemmee know...

Mount one on the front and one on the rear!

I can't imagine it being very tough ..... but it's way better then no winch! Probably worth more if it gets you out of one jam.

That's an interesting perspective...I never thought about the money being worth a looooong walk home

Naw, I'm not in the market; anyway, my jeepster overheated with just a freakin' x-mas wreath over the grill, so I'm thinking a winch is a no-go. Just saw the offer and had to laugh -- I've enjoyed the pros/cons threads that have gone on over whether a no-name winch is worth it.

If anybody DOES get one though, I'd love to know what it's like (you know, like is it 1:1 scale, etc

Chris, no putting cheap stuff on your new jeep. It would be just my luck that I would have to fix it 10 years down the road
I still have to find someone to kick the POs butt that built my jeep...
just kidding. Seriously, buy a good winch so that I can call you to rescue me when I move down there

That winch looks almost exactly like the one my pop used to use to pull his old cars into the garage...sure, it`ll pull 8000, if you use a snatch block to double the power...and thats rolling weight- I doubt it would actually lift 1000.
And its slooowwwwwww. The nly difference I see is dads is blue.

PS- pops winch died on the third use. The "replacement" lasted for 4 pulls. Makes a dandy doorstop.

I e-mailed them Friday to try and learn some more about them.

"How can you sell a 8k lb winch so cheap?
http://www.jmtools.com/details.asp?Itemid=19-3052
I assume they are reconditioned, but I am curious about replacement part availability."

Here is the reply I just got.

"Thomas,
Thank you for your inquiry and for visiting our website. We are able to do the pricing that you see on our website because we buy in bulk from local vendors, we do our own pickup/frt, and have our warehouse on premises. The 8k LB winch you are inquiring on is an import copy of "Ramsey", which we believe they are manufactured in the same plant and one is brand named and our "Raymart" brand is labeled an import. Although we have not had any failures, our vendors guarantee there are replacement part available. By the way, they are brand new winches and are very high quality. Feel free to call 800-684-6657 and speak with Jessica if you have any further questions."

I don't know if it's worth it.
Here is a 8k ramsey for $399 web page
