I found several police 6.5 turbo 2 door Blazers for sale. I haven't seen them in person and was wondering what the drivetrain was? Are these 1/2 tons even though there diesels? They all have about 150K on them, but I bet they will action really cheap because the interior are not very good.

I think you mean tahoe. They I believe are considered a 1/2ton. I know someone that has a 95 diesel, 10 bolt rear axle and what not. Gears I believe 3.73.

yup. most state police agencies use either tahoes or burbs. more room for the bad guys and still room to relax and eat a donut. the vast majority are 1/2 tons becasue they just dnt need anything more than that. as a half ton it liekly has the 10bolt rear end, but some will have the tow package for hauling police boats and what not and thoise might have teh 14SF

I did mean 2 dr Tahoe, although their still Blasers to me. I know they did use some 10 bolts behind the deisels, but I would be suprrised if they would take the abuse. I am still thinking about getting one (even though the miles are 150k, which is a lot even for the 6.5) if I can pick it up for 500 to $1000. It's a rural WY gov action, so they might go cheaper than that.

If its cheap, that makes it all worthwhile because the amount of money you would have dumped to get it, can actually get you mods now. I would really like to get another 2dr tahoe for dirt cheap.... Im talking less than $4k but that won't happen.

I looked at the tahoes and you're right, they are in ROUGH shape. The website uses one set of pictures for all tahoes available so you can't see what you are really bidding on. To me, they wouldn't be worth putting any money into them but others enjoy that.

yeah that interior is pretty rough and you're not sure how long it's been sitting there so you wont know mechanically in the engine what will need to be replaced. a turbo alone can be a couple hundred dollars if its blown. personally i'd just go for one of those CUCV trucks. i looked through that site for a few minutes and found a few in good shape where the interior isn't that bad and they look like they've been kept up. i read somehwere in like the 10 best 4x4 buys they have i think a d60 up front and a d70 out back with a locker.

D60 front, yes. 14FF rear with a detroit. 6.2 diesel, TH400, 208 t-case. Sometimes a 205 t-case and sometimes(vary rare)front locker.
