87 ford turbo coupe engine in a YJ?

Take a look at the torque curve of most turbo 4 bangers. All your power is made way up in the revs, not a good 4 wheeling motor, unless of course you are doing possible sand or mud drags. Toyota figured this out years ago, they put their turbo 4 as an option in their 4 wheel drives, I believe it lasted all of 1 yr.

I'll have to agree with Brad. I had an '84 Ford Mustang SVO with intercooled turbo 4 cyl. It was great on gas, was one the fastest cars I've driven, especially from 65 mph to 130 mph, handled like a slot car, but the engine was only hot in the higher rpms with the turbo kicked in. Low end torque was not there.

Well, maybe he likes to drive fast or have neck snapping acceleration.
