\'86 Honda makes noise!

Need some advise from those who know! My honda trx350 makes a clicking noise in the engine. Appears to be coming from the top end. It is not the valve\ rocker arm clearance as I checked that. Does the chain tightener or something like that have problems? I heard rumors of this years ago but cannot remember the exact problem. TIA

Re: \'86 Honda makes noise!

If you have determined that it is not the rocker arms, then it is definitely the timing chain. You need to replace it. Hondas are notorious for this. You will probably need to replace the chain, guide & tensioner. It is auto-spring adjusted and the mechanism is located on the back of the cylinder, right behind the headpipe/muffler connection. Get a book on your bike and it really is not too big of a deal.
