I just bought an 85 Silverado that's a 2x4 and am considering converting it to a 4x4. Has anyone ever done this? If so, could you point me in the right direction as to where to begin. Are there kits out there? Thanks!

2x4 to 4x4

:dealull the front mounts off of a 4wd frame, get the crossmembers and the shackle mounts. remove your front suspension (like 10 bolts holding it to the frame) and bolt everything up. you'll need a 4x4 steering box too. swapping the front suspension is WAY easier than a frame swapldcodger:

Also, don't forget the necessary transmission work. You'll need a 4WD drivetrain. Transfer case, front driveshaft ... etc.
