I have a 1983 Dodge Ramcharger 4x4 with a 360ci engine. The original engine was a 318. I have an aftermarket towing package on it with a new trailer brake module. I typically haul a dragster trailer (around 5500 lbs), but am considering towing a heavier boat (around 6500 - 7000 lbs). The truck also has a 3" lift kit on it...

Does anyone know what the original vehicle weight was / is?
Also, what is the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)?

...any idea what type of trailoring capacity it could handle? I have a hitch insert that can handle plenty of weight, but can the vehicle handle it?

my 87 street RC hauls my 84 woods RC at 7200 gvw and the car trailer is a 1000 gvw or better / so l,m hauling 8000 gvw or better / it does the towing just fine but l know l should have a bigger truck but its all l got / just went out and looked at the 87 weight sticker on the door jamb/ the gvwr is 6150 / personally towing with a lifted truck sucks because of the higher center of gravity / l tried towing a car just down the road for this guy with my woods RC and trailer with 35 BOGGERS IT WAS PLAIN SCARY to say the least / best l can say is try it / if its to much to handle for the truck you need a bigger one
