\'76 to \'77 CJ-7 Frame Changes???

Does anyone know if the CJ-7 frame for '76 is 4 inches narrower than '77 and later? I have a line on a '76 frame for my '77 CJ-7 but was told that it was narrower. I know that the frame wasn't completely boxed in the rear in '76 but I can box it later. Just not sure that the '76 will work on a '77 and later tub. I really hope it will since I absolutely need a frame and this one is practically free! Thanks,
rich

Re: \'76 to \'77 CJ-7 Frame Changes???

I've got a 76 and I also looked at the books to make sure. The 76 and 77 frames should be identical.no boxing in front of the first x-member and behind the last x-member before the rear bumper. The last year of the narrow frames was 75.I hope this helps out a bit.
