73 Pickup

I have a question about my '73 Commando. It is a pickup, the thing is that I have never seen another pickup quite like it. All of the 73's that I have seen pics of have the slanted tailgate, as far as I can tell anyway. My tailgate is straight up and down. Is mine modified, or rare(more so than most...), or have I just not run across one yet.. I have attached a photo. Sorry about the quality, the lighting in my garage is terrible, so I had to lighten the image a little... Any info will be gratefully appreciated.

That obviously is a poor hack job by somebody. Even the rear fenders have been chopped.

Looks like a CJ-style tailgate, custom body work after a rear-ender. Probably cheaper to fabricate than to find a rear 'clip' from a real Jeepster.

Well, whoever did it did a good job. I couldn't tell that it was modified. The latches are a little clumsy though.
