My 1985 720 King cab 4x4 keeps missing while driving around town and occasionally stalls when I come to a stop. Also it diesels when I turn it off some times (more often then not). I have checked the valve clearances, timing and all the emission hoses and all seem OK.

It diesels because your anti-dieseling value is stuck open, go figure. You'll need to get a new one. It's on the passenger side of the carb and has two wires(red and black I think) coming out of it, you'll have to pull the wires from the main carb harness too. About your missing, I'd check the usual, plugs, plug wires, and the distributor cap. Good luck
