Can I put a 700r4 in my cj instead of a th350? IT seems that the 700r4 is about 3 inches longer and my driveshaft is already short enough as it is...will this combination fit? What mods would be beneficial? thanks in advance

It's already been done, many times. There is a guy that sometimes looks at/posts on this board, from Palmdale, CA, that might respond. His is a CJ-7, about 84/85. He has the stock six, and Dana 300, and he used Advance Adapters. Works great for him.

Shudda mentioned... I see on your 'list' that one of your Jeeps is a Wrangler. If you are thinking of the Wrangler for this conversion, I suspect most folks would suggest adding the 'slip-joint-eliminator' kit to the back of the transfer case, which gives additional driveshaft length. (Try Parts Mike, partsmike.com, or Advance Adapters for advise on this.)
