4X4 Indicator Lights

913 Views 10 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  greyj
I bought my Jeep about 2 months ago, the four wheel drive high and low range both work great, but the indicator lights on the dash do not come on.

Any ideas?

Thanks in Advance,

Someone is going to say it sooner or later, so....

bulb? fuse?
Wire get pulled off the switch on the axle?
Didn't know there was a wire on the axle...I'll check it out...where do I find it? Sorry for the dumb question, I'm a newbe...
I am not sure about the '99 TJ, but my 2001 has aa amber light that says "Part Time" whether the TC is in High or Low. There is no light that says "4Hi" or "4Lo".
Doh, I was thinking YJ. I think it is either on the linkage or the transfer case on the TJ.
Thanks, I'll check it out...
for future reference will,
there is no wire going to the front axle disconnect on a YJ. It are three vacuum hoses. open, close and feedback.
Greg

my 97 says "4wd"
the wifes 2000 says "part time"
both when in either in high or low range

I thought the shift indicator switch was in the shift fork housing on the YJ.
i think there is a line from the 4x4 vacuum harness that activates a switch on the firewall, just below and to the driver's side of the battery...
