Hey, I was just wondering if any of you know of a kit to lower a 4WD S10 about 1-3 inches? I want a look similar to a Syclone/Typhoon. Anyone know how GM lowered them? This will be a scorcher with an LT1 and Z28 4L60E, combined with the 4WD. I have heard of AIM's airbag kit for the front, but I will use it as a last resort($$$$). I will be painting it Victory Red and a grey tweed int is in the works. Also I would like to find some fender flares that would look similar to a Sy/Ty. I looked at Xenon Sport Flares but they don't make em for a 1991 S-10. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

You can also try Belltech Corp. and Sway-A-Ways lowering block kits.

God, I can't believe I know some of this stuff! /wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif

I would think that Belltech offers new spindle kits for 4x2's, but not 4x4's. Unfortunately you'd probably be better off with lowering the torsion bars, lowering the rear end with blocks or springs and low profile wheels.

The Syclone/Typhoon has an all wheel drive system that is really nice and a sport suspention pack.. You can lower it by taking some of the adjustment out of the t-bars and taking out one of the smaller leaves from the rear pack.. At least thats what the guys around here do.. But I dont see how your going to fit the 33's.!.!.!.! /wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif

Better do some research first! A scorcher LT1? I'll be seeing you on the side of the road. The 7.5 rearend won't hold up & the 7.2 front end WILL not handle a full throttle LT1 deal at all. Got to the S-104x4 site that is posted here & there is articles from JTR posted from the book. They have done s-10 V8 conversions longer than anyone and say a very mild small block with STOCK SIZE tires will hold up. Start hooking up on the street with big tires and throttling that small suspension & it won't last long. You know that the Extreme Blazer is coming out this year, right? That's if you want something really different than the extreme that is a pickup version. I know it's not 4WD, but you will have all the best to work with right from the start including it is already lowered from the factory with ground effects too. And about $4000 cheaper than starting off with 4WD. You can buy anything to lower it from anywhere. Also, if you read some of these posts about the Cyclones & stuff it had a different drivetrain that was fulltime transfer case & stuff & beefed up to handle the extra power that the Turbo would put out.

would anyone have the info about these beefed up front and rear diffys? I don't care much for the full time t case, but if they make beefed axles that might easily swap into a regular S truck, that seems fairly interesting to me... /wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif Has anyone checked it out? /wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif

The Sy/ty vehicles had almost the same kind of transfer case as the Bravada.

It is the same T/C, the Borg-Warner one used in AWD Astro/Safari. I don't know what they did to beef up the IFS though. I know the front driveshaft is different. I think the rear end was just a 7 5/8 with 3.73's and shocks mounted like traction bars, maybe limited slip, and a healthy rear sway bar. I might try getting ahold of a Sy/Ty IFS system and T/C. My Chiltons manual covers them also, so I'll look in it. If the ring&pinion is bigger in the IFS , that might be a worhtwhile upgrade for anyone. I'll check it out and post what I find.

Speaking of the Astro AWD, could you not swap in the whole drive train into a S-truck? Not that I have an S10 or anything but my neighbors do have an older AWD Astro and I was wondering to my self the other day if a conversion like that would be posible seeing it would have the same Trany as the S10's do. I imagine then you would just have to shorted the drive shafts and stuff right? Are the Astro vans wider than the S-trucks? I know the interior looks alot the same as my dads 91 Blazer and my 89 S-10 did.
