I've been reading that you need to grind a bit to fit the 6" lift but do you need to lengthen the drivelines for either of the lifts or is a u-joint spacer enough?

I'm just trying to keep costs down, i'm not made of money.. sure you guys know how it is

Also what would you guys suggest for a locker? I'm shying away from the powertrax and lock-right systems because the pressure-based gear system they use is likely to fail over time but a detroit or tracRight are quite expensive to fit a Dana 70 (actually 70/80 hybrid from what I can tell by reading on the net so far).

Why doesnt anyone make a simple selectable magnetic or physically actuated locker?

on this eral truck with leaf springs id run as close to factory flat springs and get out the sawsall. i see no reason to lift more then 2-4"S to run tires as large as 40s

ive had very good res
sults with welded spider gears. also see no reason to spend money in the axle end on these trucks. and on road manners arent horrible but will ear tires if you run alot of asphalt. if running on paved surfaces id safeyour cash and leave the axles stock.

these trucks can be turned into offroad monsters with very little cash invested.

i would spend most my money on cross over steering and sawzall blades with big tires then decide if maybe welding the rear will be worth it. i can tell you for offroad its worth it.
