1) Has the 4.0L engine always been Multipoint Injected? If not, what year did it change?

2) Is the manual transmission on a 4.0L Cherokee the AX-15 (like on a Wrangler)?

All 4.0 liters have been sequential multipoint fuel injected. There are four types of systems used though; '87-'90 XJs with Renix system, '91-'95 with Chrysler OBD-1 system (Mopar EFI is this type), '96-'99 Chrysler OBD-2, and '99WJ-2000 all models with Chrysler OBD-2 and distributorless ignition / dual iron exhaust manifolds. XJs after around '89 use the AX15 like the YJs do but the mounts for the t-case shifter are different as is the clocking of the t-case. Hope this helps, good luck!

What did they do with the 95 YJ's that were produced in 96? Did they switch horses in mid stream? That is, if you get a 95 -95 YJ 4.0 do you get a different injection package then if you have a 96 produced 95 YJ?
