What is required to swap a 4.0L (91 or newer) engine into an 85 CJ-7. The CJ is mechanically mostly stock.

Engine mounts? Can you keep the tranny? Does anyone have write ups on it? Can you just swap out the head? Thanks!

Covers my swap and has a scan of an article from 4WD&SUV from a few months ago that covers 4.0 swaps into CJ's.

Hmmm... I couldn't find the scan. Where are you hiding it at? =8~) Will the 4.0L bolt up to a 4.2L bellhousing? I'm thinking seriously about building a 4.0L stroker and mating it up with my T-19 and T-150 bell housing, and Mopar MPI. Will my MORE "bomb proof" 4.2L mounts work with the 4.0L?
For those who are interested in the 4.0L, I stumbled across a company who is selling the stroker kits for a lot less than Hesco (about $1275 for the complete kit). http://www.accuratepower.com I know absolutely nothing about this company, I just stumbled across them yesterday.

Dean, thanks for the address and I'll check it tomorrow. They are much cheaper than Hesco and Clifford.

Nycjeep :)

There's a link off the first page to a page of tech articles that I scanned. I think http://jeepskate.4x4.org/Tech.htm will take you there.

Yes.

Yes. Just have to change one bolt on the driver side as the block is drilled and tapped for a larger diameter metric bolt.

Just saw their ad in the new Jp...There's some other good stuff hidden in the new issue too.
