Yep

I've got a 91 4.0 that I went thru completely. Do you have the multi port injection? Tell ya what I did to mine. Bored it .060, (it took that to clean up #1) line bored the block, silvolite pistons and wrist pins, moly rings, resized rods, crank at .010 and .010 under, stock cam and lifters, stock timing chain and gears, standard valve job, Air Raid, 20lb Bosch injectors, 63mm bored TB, new distributor, new coil, new gibson headers, hi flow cat, flowmaster 40's, all new sensors, new fuel pump, new oil pump. At 50k on this build, stilll holds 47 psi oil using Guardall 30 wt diesel engine oil at 2500 rpm,(engine warm) (60 psi cold). She squalls.

Go with new lifters. On the 4L you have to take the head off to change lifters, so new ones are a worthwhile investment. On an engine where you can just take the valve covers off and slide the rockers over I'd re-use lifters that worked OK before, but not on this engine.
