4.0 and 4.0 ho. What\'s the diff?

I've looked around on the web and couldn't find any answers. Can I convert my 93 wrangler to an HO?

If thats the case, then what's the difference between the 93 wrangler powertrain and the 97 cherokee? My brothers 97 will flat leave mine in the dust. Both are stock, mine has 31" tires. His just seems to have more grunt.

They've up the power some since the '93 HO. I'm not sure about a '97, but newer 4.0's have ditched the distributor for them fancier electronic ignitions. Plus, YJ's have a little piece of plastic in the air box that restricts the amount of air. That's why a '93 XJ has about 10hp more than a YJ.

Hey thanks. I think. At least now I know why. I guess I'll have to go the normal hot rod route, ignition, headers, K&N. Is the Jacobs ign all its cracked up to be?

As long as it is working, yes. If you have problems, their customer service is terrible.

Jacobs does not have a reputation for reliability, nor for creating a "hot spark." The advertising hype says one thing, testing the actual ignition system shows something quite short of it.

Yes, if you old ignition has problems then of course the Jacobs will be better - because it replaces the defective part(s.) They are about as powerful as a Pertronics, slightly hotter than stock.

MSD!
