·35\'s on D30 & AMC 20 axles
Okay, here's the dilemma. I want to run 35s on my 77CJ7. I'd love to swap in some Scout axles (I figure $2,000 or more with gears, lockers and set up), but I'm cheap. I'm locked with 3.54 gears in the Dana30 and AMC 20 now. It wouldn't be too expensive to swap in 4.10s or maybe 4.27s into those axles($500.00 gear set plus set up). I'd have to get a new carrier up front, but I could still use my my Detriot in rear and Lock-right up front. The question then becomes can the stock axles, especially the Dana 30, handle 4.10s or 4.27s, lockers and 35" tires??? Would I be spending more money trying to keep this set up together, than the cost of the properly geared and locked Scout axles? What about the 4.27s, too much in stock axles with lockers?? Any info. or thoughts is always appreciated.
