where is the best company to get all or most of the hardwear to put a 350 bowtie in my 89 yj? any information will be of great help. thank you.

I know Advance Adapters is a bit expensive but they offer everything you need, at least get the swap guide from them, it has lots of information that will make the swap a bit easier on you.

Check with M.O.R.E. at www.mountainoffroad.com
They make a bolt in motor mount for your YJ! Part # JM400. Price is about$225.00. I used the M.O.R.E. motor mounts for my 80 CJ5. My CJ5 frame was bent some, so I had to shim between the frame and bolt in motor mounts.

If you are trying to do the swap on the lower end of the cost spectrum you don't need a new radiator if your 89 came with the I-6. I have a chevy 350 in my 89 YJ and I use the stock radiator no problem. Everyone I talked to said the stock radiator can easily handle cooling the 350....and this includes mepco. I was going to buy one of their radiators and they actually steered me away from it because they said I didn't need it....I have advance adapters motor mounts and they seem to be holding up fine. I did the swap in my 89. Get the Advance Adapter parts from Hicks 4x4. They are alot cheaper from Hicks rather than from Advance Adapters. And they are the advance Adapter parts. I got my radiator from 4wd hardware. It directly bolted in --- no modifications required and had a built in tranny cooler. It is easier than trying to modify the stock radiator to line up hoses. I didn't have any cooling problems this summer. Tip--get a remote oil filter unit from Summit--about $30. My front driveshaft was hitting my oil filter when I flexed a lot. Luckily, I caught it before it started leaking. Tip--get the tranny mount -- about $30 from Hicks (made by advance Adapters also). It would have been easier for me to buy the darn thing rather than spend 2 hours trying to fabricate my own. Any questions--e-mail me at [email protected]
