33\'s or 35\'s on daily driver??

OK here is the deal....I am going SOA with D44's front and rear...now here's my dilema, I can't decide whether or not to go with 33's or 35's. One day I want 33's next day 35's. I wheel at least twice a month(not too many places in Upstate NY) so it sees frequent use and I usually only drive it about 150 miles a week. Anyone out there got 35's on a daily driver??? I know a lot of people have 33's and they are perfectly happy, but I am worried I am going to get 33's and think that it isn't enough. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Re: 33\'s or 35\'s on daily driver??

33s or 35s depends a lot on what gear you are running. You would need aprox. 3.55-3.73 for the 33s and 4.10-4.56 for the 35s minimum. Just an aproximation. Steve

Re: 33\'s or 35\'s on daily driver??

Well I can't really take care of the gears until I know what size tire I am running...So I need to decide tire size before gears(I will be purchasing the gears after I decide on a tire size)

Mopar360yj I noticed you go SOA with 35's...is it your daily driver??

Well, you know I run 35" BFG MTs and my rig is a daily driver. What engine do you have? I would'nt want 35" tires on a 6 cylinder for a daily driver.

Re: 33\'s or 35\'s on daily driver??

I run Q78's (@36") on my YJ, (V-6, automatic, 4.10 gears) and it does fine on road, it does requires more horsepower (and gas) to go higher speeds, for me any faster that 65mph and i really have to "feed the motor", but it will do it. (just a note, i'm planning on going to 4.56 gears for off-road, not on road performance reasons)

i think, if you have a 350/350 combo with 4.10 gears and you choose 33" tires, you will wish you had an overdrive the first day you get up to highway speed.

also the larger the tire the more out of round and harder to balance they become.

Re: 33\'s or 35\'s on daily driver??

I ran 35x12.50 BFG MTs on my CJ-7 for a long time with the stock 3.54 gears with my 350/350 combo (of course my engine is built up to 330 hp). I could outrun almost any Camaro or Mustang and the engine had enough torque to idle over almost any obstacle. Now that I have 4.10s it's just sick.

Yes, this jeep is my daily driver, to the tune of 450 mi week. With 35s and a OD auto I think I should have went with 4.56. But, for now the 4.10s are good enough, just no smoken the tires at a stop light though. Steve
