360 stock, T-150, dana 20 stock, d30f, amc20r, 33" tires. How much difference would i tell going to 4.10 gears and will my carrier take 4.10s. How will it affect daily driving? Thanks for any and all help.

i have 33's with 3.54 gears. now i wish i had gone to 4.10's. the dana 30 will need a new carrier to go lower than 3.54. i don't remember about the amc20 though, i have a dana 44.

WILL is right on the money for the front...the rear 20 can use the same carrier bearings. I called the guys at Randys R&P and asked some of the same questions. Its a pretty costly upgrade...but significantly cheaper if you can do it yourself.

Hey - I have a stock 360, 33's, 3.54 Dana 30 and AMC 20, and a Dana 18 TC (which is 2.46 vs. 2.03 for the Dana 20) However, I have a T-18 whereas you have the T-150. I think this is the best bang for your bucks. This will more than double your crawl ratio, and you won't have to set up your r&p's. Also, since you have a Dana 20, you can use the stock tranny to transfer case adapter, and do this with all junkyard parts. I find that the 360 will turn the 33's on the 3.54's with no problem. - Chuck

As usual, I think Chuck is right on point. Better crawl ratio, cheaper upgrade (assuming you dont install the gears yourself) is the t-18 rather than a gear swap. Your crawl ratio right now is 21:1 (3.54 x 3 x 2) but twith the t-18 it would drop to 43:1 or more (3.54 x 6 x 2). The swap to 4.10s will only drop you to 25:1 (4.10 x 3 x 2). I don't think you will feel a huge difference with the 4.10s...wheeling or highway driving. The 360 and 3.54s will turn the 33s with no problem, I ran 33s with 3.54s and a 304 without a prob.

I was thinking the T-18 would be better. Not many jeeps in the yards around here hard to find a used one. Where could I get a T-18 used or rebuilt and how much should I pay? I've heard of junkyard T-18s from $300-$500. I was e-mailed by someone who rebuilds them and his price was $650 plus $100 or $150 shipping. What do you guys think? I'm actually thinking ahead to when I trash my T-150 with the V8.
