new to Grand Cherokee territory. we just bought a 2000 Laredo with the V8 option.
Its fast! i want a little more oomph from stock.
i was going to go to a FIPK from K&N. is there any thing else worth doing? Computer Chip? i can't break the bank or a supercharger would do nicely.

ALso, i did a search on the tires/size for stock etc. etc..i found a few things but everything is contended, like 30.9 fits / no it doesn't/ yes it does, etc...there are LT225/75R16 on it now. the options for the GC is a 245/70R16 which is basically the same. We want a little taller and a little wider than the 29's, but we don't want the awful rub on the inner wall. can i just add 31x9.5 and a body lift on the 2000wj? can you even add a body lift to a 2000wj? thanks in advance fellas.

i don't know about WJS but i know that cherokees are unibody so you can't do a body lift on them.i'd suggest a 2 or 3 inch suspension lift.the K&N FIPK works great on my cherokee. If you do this get BF goodrich 31x10.50 inch all terrain tires, alot of jeep guys on this board have them .they also have the bf goodrich mud terrains too.

right!duh, i didnt even realize that the gc's were unibody.haha! i asked some shop out here about the 2-3" lift and they all said that the gc's tend to have complications with the

steering and stuff like that. the drivetrain is just the regular v8, not the HO. its also the all time 4wd, Q trackII. 31's are all that i would want for this anyway. cool. thanks for the input.

I know NON-grand Cherokees are unibody, but I thought the GRAND Cherokee is full frame.
In my opinion, I would prefer a suspension lift first, instead of just raising the center of gravity by lifting only the body. At least doing the suspension will help keep the CG under control.

You can get yourself a 2.5 inch budget boost (spring spacers) and retain a ride that is pretty close to stock. I don't drive a dub, and I don't know all of those 16 inch metric tire sizes, but I'm sure if you do a search for WJ and Budget Boost you can find out what you can fit.

Good Luck, and welcome to the world of Jeeps!

Steve's thinking of the Grand Wagoneer is all.

I second the above post- get 2" coil spacers and 30x9.5" tires. If you're wheeling in sand, than street tires are just fine.

You might want to look into swapping an NV242 into your rig for a lot more transfer-case selections: 2WD- Part Time 4x4 High- Full Time 4x4 High- Neutral- Part Time 4x4 Low. It should pretty much bolt right up.
