2 engine ??\'s

What is a good compression number on an engine?
How does the coolant flow through the engine?
Does it flow from the radiator to the thermostat into the engine. Or engine through thermostat into the radiator.
I have replaced the water pump radiator and thermostat twice.

Re: 2 engine ??\'s

ok here is another part to that question. Engine in still running very very hot. The engine goes to near overheating on start up. Then all of a sudden it cools down as if what ever was causeing the overheating issue released. When the engine is in near over heating stage I pop the hood and the engine, radiator and upper radiator hose are all burning hot. The upper hose is also hard with pressure. I've installed a new radiator, water pump, and 2 thermostats. what else is there? Oh and the fan clutch does not spin freely if turned it'll spin maybe one rotation then slow to a stop.

Test the thermostat. it should open at the rated temp Use a kitchen thermometer and a
pot of water on the stove. Clean the stat well or use a pot and thermometer the better
half doesn't care about. Antifreeze will kill you quick via liver failure. dogs and cats too.
Lost our cat to anti freeze poisoning 4 years ago...

Yeah I believe that that thermostat is in the right way if I had it in backwards would it even work in the first place. I think I'm going to have to try that boiling water trick. I still have the first one I installed I'll check that one, then if it's still good I'll swap it. Is there any way that I might have an air lock or something like that causeing this issue. I was watching american hot rod and they had an engine overheat because of an airlock.

Re: 2 engine ??\'s

Every Zuk thermostat I've seen has a bleeder built into it to allow trapped air in the intake to excape . Are you sure the water pump is actually moving water ? I have seen rebuilt units that have a nice "freewheeling impeller" built in... One thing to watch is for air being pressurized into the cooling system , or bubbles showing up in the radiator constantly . The symptoms you describe sound more like a blown head gasket more than anything...

Re: 2 engine ??\'s

I took the damn thing back to the shop that installed the water pump and they said the water pump is blown again. The sad thing is that I took it back 4 days after there 90 day warranty on labor, but the pump it self has a life time. I think I'm going to get a second opinion. then get the pump from them and have it installed some place else.

Re: 2 engine ??\'s

A few things come to mind here.... could be head gasket, cold be cracked block.... OR sometimes the water pump can be assembled incorrectly. If the blades are put in backwards, it can cause back flow,,, which will eventually lead to blowing the water pump. Just some thoughts..
