Hey guys im ussually in the yota board but have been thinking about a bronco 2 as a daily. I had a ranger it had a 2.8 lots of lift and 33s could fit 38s (looked goofy) I got for real cheap foxed it and sold it. It was a neat truck execpt for the power at drank gas. I was wondering how the 2.9 is? A buddy of mine is moveing and has a new 2.9 and a bronco 2 with a 5 speed. Do they have any common problems? How are they on gas? Anyone know what the horsepower and torque is? I just wondered if someone knew off hand Thanks for the help Time for me to start researching.

Have been researching these myself, so here are some answers in general:
HP/TQ : 2.8 115/150, 2.9 140/170
The heads tend to crack when motor overheats
MPG should be around 19-22 if you don't go too big on
the tires
There are a lot of things you can do for modest HP
gains

Thanks... I was really hopeing for more gas mileage from such little displacement. I saw a few of the readers rides one side the 2.9 was just short a few poneys to push 33s down the high way. This was troubleing, on the other hand the torque was nice surprise. Thanks for the help.
