2.5\" IFS Skyjacker Lift Help

Am I the only one who thinks the instructions for this lift suck? I mean, its a pretty basic lift but I feel the directions should be a little more clear. The pictures included with the instructions would be a big help if they were clear, which they're not. Anyway, I can't quite figure out how the upper driver side diff lowering brackets are supposed to be installed. It consist of 2 pieces, one for each side of the original bracket. One guy at Skyjacker told me both pieces go on the inside of the original bracket, the next guy told me he didn't know, and the third guy told me they both go on the outside of the original bracket. After receiving these three intelligent answers from Skyjacker's employees, I have come to the conclusion that this is a bunch of b.s., and if I have to call them back one more time, I'll be sure to let them know. I have however tried installing the bracket. With both on the outside i can't get them to draw up tight to the diff. The only way I can get it to draw up tight is by putting one on the outside and one on the inside of the original bracket, but this pushes the diff out of alignment. If you can't already tell, this is beginning to get on my nerves, so if anyone can tell me what the h*ll I'm doing wrong, I would greatly appreciate it. That solid-axle swap is looking real good about now.

Re: 2.5\" IFS Skyjacker Lift Help

Me and my dad just reached that step last night, on my 89. Me and my dad both agreed that the instructions are a bit simple and the pics/diagrams suck! But anyway, I just went out to the garage and took some measurements, the two brackets along with the sleeve just wont fit inside the bracket. The inside of the bracket measure 2.8" while the two brackets along with the sleeve measure 3.3" So the brackets go on the outside and the sleeve goes on the inside and just put that bolt on through! Hope this helps.

I got the kit for $400 including new shocks, but since I didnt have a torsion bar loader/unloader ($126 from kentmoore) I also had to buy new sway bar links and ball joints, and a few box wrenches. You dont need to buy new sway bar links or ball joints but mine were shot so I bought new ones, also you need to trim the sway bar link sleeves. All totaled Ive spent about $650.

Oh ya also forgot to mention that those two brackets are different heights at each end, you should notice this (unless your blind) try flipping them around and do combo's with each sides height and see what you get.

Re: 2.5\" IFS Skyjacker Lift Help

Thanks, I'm sure I can rig something up to make it work, but I just got a little annoyed by the service at Skyjacker. Like 89 Silverado I also changed the upper and lower ball joints, along with new sway bar bushings, brake calipers and rotors, and I figured might as well throw in a couple of Rancho RS5000s too. I've heard people say these shocks are too stiff but they're a huge improvement over the Gabriel's that were on there. The back of my truck actually has a little move't now. All told, by the time I'm finished the truck should ride far better than it has since I've owned it.

WOW!!! i paid $295 for my kit from Rocky mountain suspension. Also why did you remove the torsion bars? I didnt have to on mine. Any how the pictures sucked. As for Ranchos. They are good shocks but they rust out like crazy.
