Are the starters for manual and auto the same for a 1992 kick?

Looking at Autozone and checkers it appears that they could besides references to 8 and 9 tooth starters.

Well On my 91 tracker when I went from the standard to the (95
3 speed auto) the starter worked (and works) fine.

is it a 8v vs. 16v issue?

or auto vs. stick?

Anyone?

I got the 8 tooth cuz they could get it in an hour, the 9 tooth was not avail locally.. and it was the right one for my 1993 5 speed motor. Or was it the 9 tooth.. I forget.. one was is stock one wasnt..
