I have found a 1987 DS 80 that's in fair shape It has the kick starter shaft sheared off even with the clutch cover. My first question is do I have to split the crankcase to replace this shaft? I have a older DS80 I looked up the vin number it comes back as an 1981 model. Would this shaft be the same? Any pointers would be helpfull Thank You, Toothster

You don't have to split the case, 1978-2000 DS80 all use the same kickstart assy so '81 parts will work just fine. '78-'80 RM50 & '77 RM80 also use the same parts
