Just bought this jeep, it needs a gas tank, who has them? which ones will work? What do they cost? Why did I get myself into this?

Thanks, Slim

Your best bet is probably a wrecking yard, for price and availability. My guess on fitment, genrally same body same tank. But take a good look before you go. If it is all nasty inside, you can take it to a radiator shop they usually have a hot tank and can boil it out for you. Mine came back with a shiny new black paint job. As for why you got yourself into this, you are probably a glutten for punishment like the rest of us jeepers
good luck with your new project.

With a Jeep that old you may have some trouble findind a replacement tank. Is the one you have fixable, or is there even one there at all? By the time you find a replacement tank, and get it cleaned, and patched (if needed) you may be better off just looking into a brand new aftermarket tank. There are a lot of places that make them, and they come in just about any size you can think of. And it wouldn't need to be fixed or painted.

a 30 gallon full size bronco gas tank fits perfect behind the rear axle in place of the spare tire - moving to here will also help in keeping the frame rail from rotting out as the full size jeep is notorious for rotting next to the gas tank as the skid plate acts as a debris/moisture trap
