Hey guys, are 16x10 rims on my TJ going to be a good match for 37x13.5R16 tires? I'm debating on that or 16x8s. Any suggestions? I had 12.5 tires on 15x8 rims before and they were good offroad but I'd like to have wider tread contact on pavement without lowering air pressure too much (basically I want good wear) while still being safe off-road at low PSI. I don't really want to spring for beadlock wheels right now either.

Hello Chevywrangler, and welcome to the board. Also thank you for filling out your profile.
YES you should go with rims that are 10" wide if you are planning on running a tire that is 13.5" wide. It would be really hard to mount a tire that wide on an 8" rim.
Sounds like you have got a pretty strong drive train in your YJ. Are you still running the Dana 30 front? I would be a little worried about it with a 350, and 37" tires. It could be ok if you are careful with it, But at very least you might want to look at some new slightly stronger U-joints.
But as far as your first question... YUP, get the 10" wide rims.

I wouldn't be too worried with the dana 30. Being a 95, it has the larger u-joints and it is a high pinion. He also has a 700r4 which will reduce the shock on the drivetrain due to the torque converter.

Thanks Olin18, yeah, the YJ is pretty decent; I've wheeled it for many years now. The TJ is a recent aquisition and it's got some work needed. The first step is going to be to get the new rims and mount my X-terrains on them to repace the god-forsaken Bias Ply Swampers that came with it. Anyway, Thanks again guys,
