1\" body lift

Has anyone done a 1" body lift on a 88 and up truck yet? I'm thinking of doing one on my 94 Z71. I know that there's a kit available for the 87 and older trucks and Blazers, but I can buy the pucks from Off Road Design and do it myself.
I'm thinking that longer Grade 8 bolts might be all I'd need to get for this, or what am I missing?

Re: 1\" body lift

that should be it. the only thing you might run into, i dunno, is the steering shaft. it probably has enough give that a 1" wouldnt affect it. for my 3" i only had to install like a 1" adapter. other than that though, you should be fine with the pucks and bolts

I don't think you want "Grade 8" bolts, though they are strong, they are also rigid and will snap!/wwwthreads_images/icons/frown.gif
I am pretty sure all the bodylifts use "Grade 5" bolts for this reason.
I looked into doing the 1" body lift a while back for my 1990 and came to the conclusion, that it was not worth "re-inventing the wheel" since Performance already makes a 2" kit for these trucks, plus you can get the brackets for the bumpers this way. http://www.performanceaccessories.com/catalog/blk.html

Re: 1\" body lift

I hear you Scooby, but don't like the look of a 2" body lift on a stock Z71. I have to remove a bunch of body mount bolts, and figured I'd do a little something different while I was there.
So I guess I'll grab some Grade 5 then. I doubt the steering shaft will really be an issue with just 1" of lift.
So, how many body mounts are there on one of these trucks?

Re: 1\" body lift

I put a 3" on my '95 about six months ago. Pretty simple install. I think there are 8 bolts on my cab (I have an extended so I think it has one more set of mounts) and there are eight bolts on a short bed. Hope it helps.
