1. This was too good to not share,
2. It covers my feelings exactly,
3. And was sent to me by my 25 year old daughter this morning,
4. Who delights in reminding me,
5. That I never taught them about Santa Claus,
6. And used to tell them I'd shot him and that ended that!
7. I admit to being a Santa-hater...
8. Always was, always will be...
9. Christmas shouldn't be the sacred day of
10. Captialism...

christmas should be whatever you want it to be...a time to worship christ or an excuse for family to get together or a time to spend a load of money or a time to pee in the snow.

whatever you want...why take offense to how other people do with this, or any other, holiday.

To me, it's just another day off,....actually four days off, unless I get duty or something like that. As a little kid, I looked forward to christmas, as a teen, it turned into nothing special. But, to each their own.

I see that as the real tragedy of the santa worship Christmas. The delight wears off real fast. If your Christmas is based on the worship of God, you have a tradition that will last beyond a lifetime. Easier said than done though. We get off to a confused start often as children and are left with a choice of seeking faith or ?? Anyways, I wish you all a Merry Christmas, and may you find meaning in it that fulfills you.

Hmm, I don't see a tragedy at all, I grew up with a religious background, but when I was old enough to make my own choices, I did.

I hope you have happy holidays and I do have meaning that fulfills me.

I am not one to push my beliefs off on anyone,, but I do have an opinion on this.

My daughter will have her first Christmass next year, at the ripe old age of 11 months she will attend her first midnight mass, and have Christmass they way I believe it should be, At home ith family. Yes I believe in giving gifts as long as it does not interfear with the real meaning of why we are off work and school. I just hope she sees it close to my way...

Rio, your example will serve your children well as they get older. I personally have not problem with gifts either, within reason. Even the Magi brought the baby Jesus gifts. As was discussed in the previous thread, I have a real problem with Santa being brought out before Halloween at our local Walmart. I'm not one for plastic yard figurines, but if I ever found the Santa worshipping at the manger, I would light it up for all to see. I just saw on the news this morning a website for those who want to see Christmas put back into our vocabulary. Check out Grinch List to see just how prevelant this trend to remove the word has become. An example they gave of just how crazy its gotten was the suggestion that we begin calling the Jewish Menohra a "holiday candelabra."

I'm a pretty tolerant person but when is enough PC enough! Its time the world get a little less sensitive and suck it up and go about their own lives rather than worrying about everyone elses!

Merry CHRISTMAS everyone!!
